Dharmishta: Networked Reading (first edition)

I had to stop initially to ponder the first sentence.

I define networked reading as the viewing of written or image-based content produced in an online environment wherein the option of user participation is possible and content is saved and recorded in a semi-public or public way.

I won't try to attempt a discussion about reading as simply defined by "viewing X," but my main concern is: Why is this different from normal reading, given your definition?

Your concept is reading, but qualified by the adjective "networked." Therefore, I would expect something different about the process of reading, but it seems here that the thesis lies in the new aspect of the content. The reading, then, seems to stay the same. Does this make sense?
